Dr. Rich McLaughlin is married to April, and they have three adult daughters.

He studied at the University of Notre Dame, Moody Theological Seminary, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and Talbot School of Theology. His PhD research explored the 1995 Wheaton College Revival from theological and educational points of view.

Across his ministry career, Rich has served in the local church, with church planting efforts, as Trinity International University’s (TIU) Director of Student Ministries, as a cross-cultural missionary in Japan, and with TIU Online teaching courses in the Christian Ministries and Leadership Departments In the local church, his roles have been Pastor of Student Ministries and Administration, Pastor of Family and Children’s Ministries, and Executive Interim Minister. Rich presently serves as Senior Pastor at Lakeside Church of Chicago in Skokie, Illinois, which started with the Japanese-Americans in the Chicago area during World War II. In recent years, Rich has also invested time with the organization called "Lead Like Jesus" (LLJ) and serves as the LLJ Japan National Director. This seminar is drawn from the LLJ training materials.

TERMS OF PARTICIPATION FOR THE 2026 REACHING JAPANESE FOR CHRIST INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE AND THE MINISTRY TRAINING

These Terms of Participation are for the 2026 Reaching Japanese for Christ International Conference and the Ministry Training (hereafter, Conference) hosted by the Reaching Japanese for Christ Network (RJC). Please read and agree to them before registering for the Conference. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not register for the Conference. Any questions or comments or issues related to the Conference can be sent to don_wright@comcast.net. All materials, including recordings, found herein or on the web related to the Conference are solely the property of Reaching Japanese for Christ (RJC). Some materials used herein or online may be owned by a third party, in which case RJC has obtained permission for their use by virtue of a license, grant, or some other form of agreement between the third party and RJC in respect to the promotion of the Conference. RJC is hosting the Conference to advance knowledge in respect to RJC’s mission, to network with other individuals or organizations, for fellowship and entertainment. As a registered participant of the Conference, you are authorized to use materials and resources only if you agree to abide by all applicable laws, and to these Terms of Participation which constitute an Agreement between you and RJC. RJC reserves the right to modify or amend its Terms of Participation policy without notice at any time. All materials contained through the Conference are protected by copyright laws and may only be used for personal, non-commercial purposes. RIGHT OF PUBLICITY WAIVER

1) I understand and agree that my participation or the participation of my child or dependent, for whom I am legally responsible, in Reaching Japanese for Christ Network (hereafter RJC), give chances of being recorded by RJC and other sponsoring organizations for the record including photo, audio, video, writings, and other methods. (Hereafter, all processes of recording will be indicated as "records.") I hereby grant RJC and sponsoring organizations and other organizations which request and receive permission to use these records by RJC to use my name and age according to the purposes that RJC permits and for the purposes of promoting RJC ministries and meet their interests. RJC can do so unlimitedly without my permission or compensation.

2) I hereby waive and release any and all claims, actions, lawsuits and proceedings that I or my child or dependent might have against RJC arising out of any and all records usage.

3) I hereby waive and release my right to erase, dismiss, destroy, and deny any and all records that include me.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY

I understand and agree that my participation or the participation of my child or dependent, for whom I am legally responsible, in such activities is a voluntary activity entered into for the purpose of personal development and recreation. I expressly assume all risks of participating in the event. I hereby waive and release any and all claims, actions, lawsuits and proceedings that I or my child or dependent might have against Reaching Japanese for Christ Network arising out of any injury and any illness that I or my child or dependent might sustain. I understand and agree that I am solely responsible for any medical expenses and other costs and expenses arising out of such injuries and/or illness. In the event of an apparent medical emergency, I authorize Reaching Japanese for Christ Network personnel or volunteers to obtain medical emergency help. I have carefully read this release in its entirety, understand it, and sign it on the registration form voluntarily, and am over 18 years of age. I understand and agree to the above provisions and hereby authorize the participation of my child or dependent in the described event.

[TO THE LEGAL GUARDIAN] I, the parent or guardian of the above named Participant, give my voluntary consent to his or her participation in such activities. I certify this by clicking in the “I agree” box voluntarily on this form.
